The Clearing Company raises $15M to build prediction platform

The Clearing Company, founded by former Polymarket and Kalshi team members, secured a $15M seed to build a permissionless, on‑chain prediction platform that targets simpler market creation, easier trading, and deeper liquidity under a regulated setup.
The round was led by Union Square Ventures with participation from Haun Ventures, Variant, Coinbase Ventures and several angel investors. The company says it will launch a platform that keeps the core mechanics permissionless while aligning with regulatory requirements.
The startup is led by Toni Gemayel, formerly the Head of Growth at Polymarket and Kalshi, alongside a team with prior experience in prediction markets. Their stated goal is to make it straightforward to list markets, reduce friction for traders, and support liquidity programs that can scale.
Prediction markets are heating up again. Polymarket reported 286,000 active traders in July, its busiest month since April. Kalshi has been widening its reach, including hiring a crypto lead and working with Robinhood on football‑related markets. The space is also drawing high‑profile attention: Donald Trump Jr. recently joined Polymarket’s advisory board, while Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has criticized current platforms for lacking yield, which limits their usefulness as hedging tools.
The Clearing aims to narrow the gap between crypto‑native UX and broker‑grade safeguards. If successful, it could keep open market creation while meeting compliance for listings, KYC/AML, and disclosures. Clearer liquidity frameworks could make markets tighter, more resilient, and more useful beyond pure speculation – for example, as hedges around elections, sports or macro releases.
Key things to watch include when the platform will launch, where it will be available, how it handles both open access and regulation, what incentives it offers for liquidity, and whether it connects with wallets, exchanges, or retail platforms. Early data like the number of markets, trading volume, and returning users will show how well it’s working.
