Trump Jr. joins Polymarket board

Donald Trump Jr. joined the advisory board of prediction market platform Polymarket on August 26, 2025 after his firm 1789 Capital invested “double-digit millions” in the company.
Trump Jr. has served as a partner at 1789 Capital since 2024. He confirmed his appointment to Polymarket’s advisory board on Monday.
Polymarket operates prediction markets for political, financial, and cultural events. Users can place bets on outcomes of various events through the platform.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission fined Polymarket $1.4 million in 2022 for operating without proper registration. The company was required to block U.S. users after the penalty.
Polymarket acquired QCEX, a CFTC-regulated derivatives exchange, for $112 million in July 2025. The acquisition allows the company to operate legally in the United States.
The company completed a $200 million funding round that valued Polymarket at $1 billion. 1789 Capital participated as an investor in the funding round.
During the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Polymarket handled $3.6 billion in total wagers. The Trump-Harris race generated $2.7 billion in betting activity on the platform.
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jeff Merkley have called for bans on election betting through prediction markets. The lawmakers cited concerns about public trust in elections.
The NFL warned that prediction markets could threaten game integrity without proper compliance systems. The league said unregulated platforms differ from licensed sportsbooks in their oversight.
Polymarket launched a U.S. rulebook and compliance advertising in response to regulatory concerns. The company was founded in 2020 as a decentralized prediction platform.
Trump Jr. said Polymarket allows people to “bet on what they actually believe will happen” rather than relying on media coverage or expert opinions.
